Coffee Crush was my first Uni assignment.
It was a 90 Second Film.

Brewing Connections
Coffee Crush was the first time I worked with professional actors. We were tasked with writing a 90-second film to showcase our storytelling skills, so I focused on a small moment — a simple interaction gone wrong — with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

We shot the film over two days, and thanks to Alex, the owner of Habitat Café, we were able to secure a great location. This was a great project to get an understanding of securing locations, renting gear, casting, catering and managing a crew.

‘Coffe Crush’ had a very small crew, so there were moments where everyone chipped in to help in all kinds of ways. I was so excited to have formed connections with people who, at the start of the project, were complete strangers. This project also helped me build confidence as a leader and as a director, particularly when it came to collaborating with actors.

Like my Year 12 film, I wrote, directed, and produced this project independently, with the amazing support of my friends and family. But by the time we wrapped, and after so much time in lockdown, I was itching to work with other creatives.
